The Apostle John describes our world as evil, “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 Jn 5:19). This teaches believers we live in an evil world that is deceived, seduced, and in bondage to Satan. He is the serpent of old; the shining one who has come to bring everyone into bondage, misery, and death. Knowing the world is evil begs the question, how do we live in an evil world? Today we look into what it means to live in this world and yet be separate from it.

He has come to set us free from this evil tyranny and to destroy his works. It is a brutal war over our souls between the one who loves us and the one who hates us. This is our exodus. An exodus from the rule and reign of the evil one.
